Top Gun Flight School

At iParaglide Top Gun Flight School, we take pride in having taught over 1900 paragliding students in our 26 years of operation.

We are the the longest running school based in Metro Vancouver. Due to our central location, we are the only school that flies all of the relevant kiting parks, training hills and mountains within a 3 hour radius of Vancouver.  This empowers pilots to get to know the key training and flying spots early, optimizes and accelerates learning, and allows them to grow into great future pilots.  

We have the reputation of being an industry leader with an emphasis on engineered safety systems, quality instruction, the finest equipment and a positive learning environment for fun and empowering flying.

We offer the highest level of accreditation, with Senior HPAC and Advanced USHPA paragliding instructors, who coach from first flight to expert paraglider pilots and teach and qualify new paragliding instructors.

Paragliding Right Site Weather May 20 2023

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

Transitioning pressure with mostly sunny skies in Vancouver, Bellingham and Seattle and 30-40% POP in Chilliwack and Pemberton.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Main valley wind becoming W to 20 km/hr early in Chilliwack and W 10km/hr in Vancouver. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley winds E to 10 km/hr becoming W to 10 km/hr. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Seattle: -2.2C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  Great day for Tiger Mountain.  0800-2000 for P2 pilots.  Chances to paraglide 90%.

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -2.0C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse Mountain for GMFT 0900-2000. 90% paragliding chances. 

3. Paragliding Bellingham: -1.7C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate. Blanchard for P2 pilots 0900-1900. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

4. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.3C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  POP at 30%.  Mt. McKenzie for P2 pilots 0800-1200 then watch for strong conditions, possible over-development and/or Whistler Express arrival with P4 Advanced conditions 1200-2000.  Paragliding prospects 60% early, 40% late.  

5. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.5C/1000ft Intermediate peak lapse rate. Mt. Woodside for possible window early for P3 pilots 0900-1100 then watch for increasing wind and increasing cloud and 40% POP and possible blown out conditions.  Chances to paraglide early 60%, chances to paraglide late 30%. 

24. Paragliding Whistler: -3.6 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate.  With XXX lapse rate, 40% POP and possibility of Whistler Express South wind arrival, paraglding is not recommended in Whistler today.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for the Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton area, based on data available at 0500.

High pressure with sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable, becoming NE to 11 km/hr. Main valley wind light NE to 20 km/hr in Chilliwack easing to light and variable late afternoon. Novice peak lapse rate -1.6C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft E at 33 km/hr and increasing to 44 km/hr.  Valley winds NE to 16 km/hr. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft.  

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.0C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  Great day for Pemberton.  Winds aloft at 3000ft light and variable early and NE to 10 km/hr later on, combating sea-breeze and making for easy triangles. Mt. McKenzie for P2 pilots 0800-1400 and 1800-2000 with P4 conditions 1400-1800. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

2. Paragliding Vancouver: -1.6C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Sea-breeze in Vancouver likely to combat light E winds aloft.  Grouse for GMFT 0900-2000.  90% paragliding chances. 

3. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.5C/1000ft Intermediate peak lapse rate. Blanchard with its proximity to the ocean and low altitude should offset the East wind aloft influence.  P3 conditions 1100-1900. Chances to paraglide 70%. 

4. Paragliding Whistler: -3.0 C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  Whistler for Whistler Flying team 0800-1100 and 1800-2000. Chances to paraglide 90% off-peak, 70% at peak.  

5. Paragliding Chilliwack: -2.9C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Mt. Woodside in lee-side for bulk of morning to early afternoon.  Rotor: do not fly.  If east wind subsides, possible P4 Advanced conditions at Woodside and Bridal post 1500.  Do not fly early.  Chances to paraglide late 50%. 

6. Paragliding Seattle: -3.0C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  Watch for strong east wind aloft putting Tiger in lee side and rotor.  Paragliding not recommended today.

High pressure with sunny skies.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Main valley wind light NNW to 10 km/hr early becoming inflow W to 15 km/hr early.  Novice peak lapse rate -2.0C/1000ft.

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft E at 22 km/hr and increasing to 43 km/hr.  Valley winds NNW to 15 km/hr. Advanced peak lapse rate -3.0C/1000ft.  

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Pemberton: -3.3C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate.  Great day for Pemberton.  Winds aloft at 3000ft light and variable making for easy triangles. Mt. McKenzie for P2 pilots 0800-1300 and 1800-2000 with P4 conditions 1300-1800. Paragliding prospects 90%. 

2. Paragliding Chilliwack: -3.2C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Mt. Woodside 0700-1200 and 1800-2000 with P4 conditions 1200-1800.  Bridal should work nice with anabatic flows up ridge.  P2 pilots 1000-1300 and 1800-2000 with P4 conditions 1300-1800. Chances to paraglide 90%. 

3. Paragliding Vancouver: -2.0C/1000ft Novice peak lapse rate.  Grouse for GMFT 0900-2000.  90% paragliding chances. 

4. Paragliding Bellingham: -2.7C/1000ft Advanced peak lapse rate. Blanchard should be away from East wind aloft influence.  Watch for strong P4 conditions 1200-1900. Chances to paraglide 70%. 

5. Paragliding Whistler: -3.6 C/1000ft XXX peak lapse rate.  Whistler for Whistler Flying team 0800-1100 and 1800-2000.  Watch for XXX conditions at peak.   Chances to paraglide 60% off-peak, 30% at peak.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0700.

Transitioning pressure with low cloud base and 30-100% POP in Chilliwack, Pemberton and Vancouver and partly sunny skies in Bellingham & Seattle. 

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft light and variable. Valley wind SE outflow to 10 km/hr becoming light inflow W to 10 km/hr mid afternoon. iP4 advanced peak lapse rate -3.1C/1000ft. 30% POP in valley with scattered showers in mountain areas. 

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 22 km/hr easing to light and variable.  Valley winds SW to 10 km/hr.  iP4 advanced peak lapse rate -2.9C/1000ft.  Partly sunny with mountain rareas in cloud till late afternoon.  

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

1. Paragliding Bellingham. -2.7C/1000ft advanced peak lapse rate. Blanchard often has a blue hole when its cloudy/rainy elsewhere. Blanchard for 4 pilots 1100-1900. Chances to paraglide 70%. 

Paragliding not recommended today in Chilliwack, Vancouver, Pemberton, Whistler, due to low cloud base and POP 30-100%. Paragliding not recommended in Seattle today due to low cloud base in mountain areas until mid-late afternoon.

Paragliding Weather Forecast for Vancouver, Chilliwack, Bellingham, Seattle, Whistler & Pemberton areas, based on data available at 0500.

Low pressure and associated fronts dominate weather picture with 30-100% POP in Chillwick Pemberton and Vancouver areas and 30% POP in Bellingham Seattle.

YVR 3000 ft winds aloft S to 10km/hr easing to light and variable. Valley wind E outflow to 10 km/hr.  iP3 intermediate peak lapse rate -2.4C/1000ft. 30% POP.  

SEA 3000 ft winds aloft SW to 20 km/hr.  Valley winds SW to 10 km/hr.  iP4 advanced peak lapse rate -2.8C/1000ft. 

iParaglide Right Site Ranking:

Paragliding not recommended today in Chilliwack, Vancouver, Pemberton, Whistler, Bellingham or Seattle due to low cloud base and POP 30-100%.
